Pieces of the Week

Piece of the Week: 8/30/17

As you can tell by last week’s piece of the week and this one, I have a thing for jackets. Cute and fashionable jackets are the unsung heroes of every girl’s closet during fall and winter. Denim jackets are one of the best staple pieces, and as I’ve said before, I love when brands put an unexpected twist on a classic piece. So, it’s no surprise I loved this bright red, oversize denim jacket that I picked up this week!

I’ve noticed that red is a super trendy color lately, whether in a bright shade like this one or a more muted maroon. It has a nice fall vibe and is definitely a loud color, especially when paired with a simple look. Oversize denim jackets are the ultimate “cool girl” piece and require little effort to style. Just throw them on over a tee, and you’re good to go! This red one instantly stood out to me when I saw it in the store, and I think it calls attention to me on the streets—in a good way. I also don’t usually experiment with color, but I thought this was a great way to add a pop of color and some fun to my wardrobe.

I paired this statement piece with some high-waisted “mom jeans,” a simple striped tee, and my white sneakers. I tried to compliment the red in the jacket with my rose gold sunglasses, and kept it simple with my everyday jewelry. I can’t wait to pair this jacket with an all black outfit for going out, and I know I’ll get some head turns whenever I wear it. If you’re looking for a way to spice up your wardrobe, adding a bright piece that’s a little bit out of your normal color palette or style is a perfect way to do so.
